The Municipal Engineering Office is primarily responsible for the administration and implementation of all infrastructure development and public works projects of the Local Government Unit.

A critical part of its mandate is that the Municipal Engineer is concurrently designated as the Local Building Official, making the office responsible for the strict and impartial enforcement of the National Building Code (Presidential Decree No. 1096) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).

The main objectives of the MEO are to ensure that the municipality’s physical infrastructure is developed, maintained, and safe for the public. These objectives can be summarized as:

  1. To deliver basic and modern engineering techniques and solutions for the LGU’s infrastructure needs.

  2. To oversee all infrastructure projects to ensure they are constructed and implemented in accordance with national standards and specifications.

  3. To provide efficient and effective engineering services including investigation, design, and project management to boost the socio-economic state of the municipality.

  4. To effectively implement building safety standards to ensure all buildings and structures within the LGU’s jurisdiction are safe and compliant with the law.

  5. To advise the Municipal Mayor on all infrastructure, public works, and other engineering-related matters.
