The MDRRMO is mandated to be the frontline office responsible for setting the direction, development, implementation, and coordination of all disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) programs within the municipality’s territorial jurisdiction.

Its core responsibility is to uphold the people’s constitutional rights to life and property by:

  1. Addressing the root causes of vulnerabilities to disasters.

  2. Strengthening the institutional capacity for DRRM.

  3. Building the resilience of local communities to disasters and climate change impacts.

The primary objectives of the MDRRMO are aligned with the four thematic areas of the national DRRM framework: Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Disaster Preparedness, Disaster Response, and Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery.
